My Pet Best Friend is being built around a simple principle: a recommendation is only useful when you can see why it was made and decide whether the same reasoning fits your animal.
We start with the job, not the product
Before comparing brands, we define the job the product needs to do. For a dog harness, that includes safe restraint, appropriate fit and freedom of movement. For a cat carrier, secure travel and useful access come before colour or clever extras.
We publish the criteria
Each commercial comparison will state its important criteria before presenting products. Typical criteria include fit range, materials, construction, cleaning, instructions, returns, warranty, price and country availability. Category-specific safety concerns are considered separately.
We distinguish research from hands-on testing
We will never imply that a product was physically tested when it was not. Research-based guides draw from manufacturer specifications, manuals, programme terms and credible subject-matter sources. Where hands-on evaluation is later completed, the method, duration and limitations will be stated.
We show who should skip a product
A useful review includes disadvantages and boundary cases. Size, strength, coat, climate, temperament, storage and maintenance can all change the answer. Products will not be labelled “best overall” unless that wording is genuinely supported by a broad and clearly explained use case.
Commercial relationships stay visible
Some future links may earn a commission at no additional cost to the visitor. Eligible commission, however, will not make a product qualify for a list or improve its position. A strong non-affiliate option can still be included when it materially helps the reader.
Guides are reviewed
Prices, availability and product specifications change. Commercial guides will show a review date and are candidates for rechecking when a merchant changes a product, policy or programme. A link being present does not guarantee that an item is in stock in every country.
